Fredrik Sjøvold: It's going to be an interesting year!

You have had a difficult season, but the victory in the Norwegian top football league was certainly pleasing. How do you feel about your performance this season? Of course, congratulations, it's a big deal.

Yeah it was though and difficult, but we stayed together as a group and in the end we were able to win the league and progress in europe which is very pleasing.

Just a few days after the league final, you played in the Norwegian Cup final against Molde FK, where you missed the victory by one goal. The home atmosphere didn't help either. I registered a fan complaint against the referee. What was it about and how do you rate the match overall?

I think most of our fans were really disappointed with a referee decision in extra time which would have sent the game to extra time. But to be honest I think we deserved to lose anyway. We played a poor game and we did not create enough chances. So we hope to come to the cup final next year again so we can show ourself from a better side

Let's go to European football. Last week the final matches were played. Both Your club and Bruges were already certain of advancing to the spring season. You lost 3 : 1 at the opponent's ground. Are they that good or did you make mistakes? What did you travel to Belgium with?

I think club Brugge is a really strong team with good individual players, and that really came to show in the first half. We got better into the game in the second half and we could easily have scored a goal or two to make the game more interesting. In the end I feel like it was their individual quality that decided the game

Few people in Slovakia know the town of Bodo and that it lies practically beyond the Arctic Circle. Basically, you probably have it far everywhere. Are you used to long journeys?

Yes the closest eliteserien team is a 7 hour drive away. Therefore we have to take an airplane to every single away game. So mildly said we are really used to flying. Also Bodø is fascinatingly Cold in the winter, you can really sense that it is above the arctic circle when the cold winter comes!

What are your immediate plans regarding your football career? Where do you see yourself in two years? Do you have something you want to achieve?

Now I’m looking forward to the 2024 season with Bodø/Glimt which could be very interesting. We have some cool games upcoming and I hope to fight for a starting spot in squad. In two years time I hope i’m a regular starter in our team, or have moved on abroad. I would really like to play in a league further south, particularly in Real Madrid which is my favourite club

Let's go to the near future, what is your club awaiting in the spring?

We have have upcoming games against Ajax in february in the conference league. We hope to beat them and progress so that we could keep our dream of winning the conference league. Previously we have beaten Besiktas and Roma. So we know our capabilities is good if we can be at our best level

How are you going to spend the Christmas holidays and the arrival of the New Year?

For the New Year I have to be injury free and fight for a starting spot in our team. I am also looking forward to the Champions league qualification which starts in June. Maybe we can Get to the Champions league group stage this year? That would be a dream coming true. Also i hope to be able to spend more time with family and friends this year, and continue to play for the Norway U21 team. It’s going to be a interesting year!
